Les Davis OAM is now a Sawtell local and surfs with his friends, the Sawtell Water Rats, at dawn most mornings and always has his camera (usually his Samsung Z Fold) ready to capture the amazing Sawtell Beach sunrises. Before retiring to sunny Sawtell, Les developed his interest in photography while working as a media producer for NSW Education and while working for the National Trust, managing Saumarez Homestead , Armidale, Les received his Order of Australia Medal for his contribution to heritage conservation and the community in 2019.
